Using Taos County funds, Taos County Animal Control sometimes offers co-pay spay-neuter vouchers for dogs and occasionally hosts mobile spay-neuter clinics in town.
Taos County Animal Control can let you know if voucher funding is currently available.
Please call Taos County Animal Control and ask for Animal Control Officers (ACOs) Richard or Rita to obtain your spay-neuter voucher via this program. If you do not hear back from them, please call them again until you do. Typically, you will have to pick up the vouchers at Animal Control: 599 Lovato Place, Taos.
**Note: Per Taos County Animal Control's offer there's a co-pay to cover the rabies vaccine & microchip. If your dog is up-to-date on the rabies and has a microchip, the spay-neuter appt is free.
Sorry, Animal Control does not make this program eligible for Taos or Picuris Pueblo.

Española Humane Service Area (Rio Arriba County, Pueblos of Ohkay Owingeh, Santa Clara, and Ildefonso): free spay-neuter for service area pets with a $30 refundable deposit. These deposits will be refundable only after your pet arrives for the appointment. Deposits from those who fail to make the appointment will be considered donations.
Outside their service area pricing:
Female dogs: $250
Male dogs: $200
Pregnant, in-heat or cryptorchids (1 or both testicles not descended) are an additional: $30
If you need to reschedule, it must be done within 48 hours of the appointment. Please leave a message to reschedule.
